A headshot is usually the first thing people see when they look you up, and they form an impression from it fast. Most professionals still put off a new one for years, mostly because they don’t know what to expect at a headshot session and it feels like one more thing to figure out. So here’s exactly how a session works at my studio on Raeford Road, start to finish, so nothing about it is a guess when you walk in.
The studio is at 2521 Raeford Road, Suite B, with the entrance on the corner of Fairway and Raeford Road, right across from the Longleaf Pine Realtors office. I shoot by appointment only, so the lights are ready before you arrive and the time is yours.
I won’t rush you straight in front of the camera. Grab a coffee or a cold drink in the lounge, check your hair, and take a minute to settle. Tell me what music you like and I’ll put it on. Most people show up a little tense, and those first few minutes take care of it before we start.
No, that part is my job. I coach you through every small adjustment the whole time, where your chin goes, how to set your shoulders, and the expression that reads confident without looking stiff. You won’t need to practice anything in the mirror before your headshot session.
Yes. Every frame comes up in real time while we shoot. You see what I see, we adjust as we go, and you never leave wondering whether we got a good one.
Before you leave, we go through the images on the screen together and you pick your favorites right there. Nothing sits in your inbox waiting on a decision. Your retouched images go out the same day, usually within an hour of you walking out the door.
It depends on the session you book. A single-look headshot session runs 20 minutes, and most people finish sooner. If you want a few wardrobe changes or branding images for your website, the longer sessions give us room for that. Either way, you’re back to your day quickly.
Solid colors and clothes that fit well photograph best. Skip busy patterns and large logos. If you’re torn, bring a couple of options and we’ll decide together on the screen. My guide on what to wear for a corporate headshot covers the details.
Then I bring the setup to your office instead. One person steps in at a time and goes right back to work, and everyone ends up with matching photos. You can see how team headshot days work here.
If your current headshot is a few years old and it’s been on your list, book a headshot session here and you’ll leave with it done the same day.
